Poverty, social care and human rights
The Alliance and other organisations recently met with the UN Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights, Professor Elena Díaz. They highlighted the rights that many people see adversely affected due to poverty related care charges in Scotland. 

Local governance reform paper 
The Scottish government has published a proposal paper outlining its plans to move to a model of 6 to 10 regional authorities, with 120-160 'community authorities' focused on local decision-making. The government says that it will "engage broadly with a range of partners, stakeholders and communities” around these plans. 

Sparking healthier futures: Celebrating the impact of Health Issues in the Community
Join the Health Issues in the Community team on 22nd October in Stirling for this event to share good practice, learn from some useful, practical examples of HIIC in action, and find out more about the lasting impact of HIIC in communities where it is used to spark a healthier future for people by taking action on what is important to them.
