Event: Wealth Building & Democratic Participation

Scotland is experiencing a growing shift towards community-led development, democratic renewal and local empowerment, with Democracy Matters and Community Wealth Building being two key policy areas driving this change.
This interactive online workshop from SCDC will explore this complex landscape, offering a valuable chance to learn more and discuss what they really mean for communities, practitioners and organisations across Scotland.
Democracy Matters focuses on how power and decision-making can be shared more effectively with communities, while Community Wealth Building aims to ensure communities have greater influence over their local economies and benefit more from the wealth they help create.
Participants will discuss how these emerging agendas might influence and contribute to tackling inequality, strengthening local democracy, supporting place-based approaches and increasing community participation.
The event will feature expert input from the Scottish Government’s Community Wealth Building Team and Local Governance Team.
