Developing the Open Government National Action Plan

SCDC recently supported a series of events exploring the development of the next Open Government National Action Plan, a five year plan aimed at increasing transparency, accountability and participation across government and beyond.

During these events, we heard from colleagues from across government and civil society about their experiences and priorities, highlighting key actions and areas for development across the commitments - building on what we heard from community organisations in the first phase of this work.

The Action Plan is focused on four key commitment areas around open government, with discussions held around trust and transparancy, the ethical use of data, anti-corruption, and public participation.

We learned lots from these discussions, and heard priorities across communications, trust in government, governance and accountability, and the development of participation infrastructure.

Working with colleagues, a summary of our findings of phase one and two will inform our final report and recommendations as the co-creation process continues over the summer and the Action Plan develops.
