Reflections: Tax Justice Scotland event
Last month Tax Justice Scotland held its first event exploring the importance of fairer redistribution. Keynote speaker Heather Kay, Manager of the Star Project in Renfrewshire, set out the context of these issues in her work: “Scotland has the resources. We are not a poor country. The issue is how those resources are shared. A fairer Scotland is possible. But it requires political courage. It requires a tax system designed not to punish the poorest, but to protect them.”

Close the gap: Disabled women's experience of employment
A new study into disabled women's experience working in Scotland captures the lived experience of over 900 women in Scotland with a disability or long-term health condition. The findings suggest the majority continue to feel discriminated against, undervalued, underpaid – and report that they have experienced physical or mental harm at work.

Scottish Government consultations
The Scottish Government has a series of ongoing consultations with closing dates soon after the festive break. The Draft Circular Economy Strategy consultation closes on 13th January, the Draft Climate Change Plan consultation closes on 29th January, and the Future of Council Tax in Scotland consultation closes on 30th January.
