Last week, more than 50 HIIC tutors, participants, young people, and community-led health practitioners came together to explore the impact of Health Issues in the Community (HIIC).

HIIC is an SCQF credit-rated course that helps people understand what affects their health and the health of their communities, with community development approaches at its core.

During the event, HIIC tutors and participants shared their learning about the many ways in which HIIC can be used as a catalyst for community action with adults and young people.

There were sessions on practical support for the delivery of HIIC, supporting participants with their HIIC qualifications, and guidance on the use of AI, as well as a creative session for gathering learning and ideas.

It was a packed programme with lots of discussion and shared learning from the people who have made Health Issues in the Community such a long-standing and successful programme.

HIIC is delivered across Scotland, led by course tutors who support participants to explore their life experiences and knowledge and develop skills in creative, fulfilling and enjoyable ways.
