9 in 10 low-income families going without essentials - JRF
This cost-of-living tracker from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation shows that a year into the new Labour Government, there has been no improvement in the key measures of hardship, with over 7 million low-income families still going without essentials. Under current plans, hardship is likely to deepen as real disposable incomes, after housing costs, are projected to fall by £690 by 2030.
Charities and campaigning on political issues
Ahead of next year's Scottish parliamentary elections, this guidance from the charity regulator includes helpful information for charities planning to campaign on political issues. It explores how charities engage with political parties and politicians, how charities can take part in joint or local political campaigns, and what charities in Scotland need to do to comply with electoral and charity law.
Scotland Demands Better - online events
On Thursday 14 August at 1pm and then again at 7pm The Poverty Alliance are hosting free online events where activists can join to talk about how the Scotland Demands Better campaign is going so far, and how best to organise transport to get people to Edinburgh to march on 25th October 2025.
