Supporting community involvement in climate responses
What are the key lessons for engaging with communities around climate change and sustainability issues? Led by Verture, Creative Climate Futures seeks to explore this question with communities across Glasgow.
The project aims to understand what climate change means for local neighbourhoods, imagine climate ready futures, and speed up local action to make these a reality.
Two pioneer neighbourhoods have been established which already feel the impact of climate change, and where underlying inequalities make it harder for communities to respond to these impact.
As part of the project, a series of guides have been produced that provide first steps on how communities can be creatively engaged with these pressing issues.
The guides have been co-designed with community organisations and local authorities, and provide key learning on the things to consider, and the good practice around carrying out engagement processes.
The guide for local authorities focuses on the processes need to work with communities, looking at how to define the engagement activity and the methods used. For community organisations, the guide features key lessons with a focus on collaboration, co-design, creativity, and climate justice.
