Volunteer Scotland Manifesto: Creating a Nation of Volunteers
The time gifted by volunteers is vital for the resilience and strength of Scotland’s communities. Last year, 48% of Scottish adults volunteered in some capacity. In their recently published manifesto, Volunteer Scotland have set out 10 key asks which they will promote to all candidates ahead of the next Scottish Parliament elections in May.
Access to Elected Office Fund
The Access to Elected Office Fund is now open for applications for the 2026 Scottish Parliament election and the 2027 Scottish council election. Funded by the Scottish Government and run by Inclusion Scotland, the Fund helps disabled people who want to stand for elected office in Scotland.
Charity trustee information
Earlier this year, OSCR began collecting charity trustee information through OSCR Online. Providing this information is a legal requirement for all charities. From early 2026, the first and last names of charity trustees who do not have an exemption will be published on the Scottish Charity Register (all other information will be confidential).
