Scotland Demands Better

Organisations from across Scotland, including SCDC, have come together to demand more from politicians and decision makers to address the big issues facing our communities.
Organised by The Poverty Alliance, the Scotland Demands Better campaign is focused on three key demands: better jobs with fair conditions and wages; better investment in public services, homes, and the environment; and better social security policies to support people throughout their lives.
"Scotland needs that change," the campaign states, "[as] too many of us are being cut off from life's essentials. Too many are frightened of what the future will bring. Too many of us are feeling tired, angry, isolated, and disillusioned."
The campaign comes as political parties and organisations prepare for the Scottish Parliamentary elections in May 2026. Creating a fairer economy and supporting social justice will be a key focus for many as communities across Scotland unfairly experience entrenched poverty and rising health inequality.
Scotland Demands Better will culminate in Edinburgh on 25th October, where groups and individuals will march from the Scottish Parliament and up the Royal Mile to make their voices heard.
