Empowerment Act: Final Community Planning guidance published

The Scottish Government has published a series of documents related to the community planning part of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act.

The finalised Guidance adds more detail to the statutory provisions.

Part 1 of this guidance sets out a strategic overview of what effective community planning should achieve. It explains the purpose of community planning and what difference effective community planning can and should make to improving outcomes and reducing inequality.

Part 2 provides additional supporting detail about what the principles of effective community planning include. It also contains specific guidance to assist CPPs develop both their Local Outcome Improvement Plan and locality plan(s). CPPs will be expected to publish these plans by 1 October 2017.

A plain English version aimed at people and community bodies has a summary of community planning and a summary of the relevant parts of the new legislation.

Along with this the government has alos published the locality planning regulation, It describes the localities into which CPPs must divide local authority areas for the purpose of carrying out locality planning.
