What we've been up to in April

Get an insight into some of the work we’ve been doing across Scotland during April.

New report: Strengthening Community Councils

This new research from SCDC and What Works Scotland explores how community councils can contribute to democratic renewal in Scotland.

Launched last week, the report suggests that giving community councils more influence, at the same time as supporting them to be more democratic, connected and diverse, is a way forward to strengthen local democracy in Scotland. You can read some reflections from the launch here.

Supporting Communities

Through our Supporting Communities programme we’ve partnered up with community organisations from across the country to help build skills, develop ideas and address the issues important to them and their communities.

We've been working with a range of groups across Scotland, supporting them with issues like local writing community action plans and developing their community engagement.

Participatory budgeting

Our PB Scotland team have been busy covering all the PB activity that's been happening in Scotland throughout April.

Participatory budgeting (PB) is a way for people to directly vote on how local money should be spent. Find out more in 60 seconds here.
