How funders can support the community sector during the coronavirus

We want to find out what funders can do to assist community organisations as they cope with the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

We’re looking to understand what community groups would prioritise as key issues and what would be helpful to address them.

This information will be used to help funders and policy makers inform the shape of any future support.

This survey is now closed!

We’re looking for priorities from across sectors and the country, but these are some of the things we’re picking up from our conversations:

  • Support for community groups that do more to enhance or diversify their services to support those affected, such as providing meals to children who can no longer attend school.

  • Support for neighbourhood social action when statutory services can't stretch this far. This might include activity which is spontaneously organised, rather than just constituted organisations.

  • Support for community groups that suffer loss of income within various community services. Examples could include community owned / social enterprises which rely on trading income and village halls or other community facilities that will lose income.

We think it’s critical to collaborate and design support that builds on local networks / activity and is distributed smartly and in a way that doesn’t further burden communities.
