Developing the Public Health Priorities for Scotland: Save the Date!
/On behalf of the Public Health Reform Team, the Scottish Public Health Network (ScotPHN) have organised a series of engagement events around the development of a set of public health priorities for Scotland.
Led by Scottish Government and COSLA these priorities are being developed as part of an important part of the wider reform programme, providing a strong and clear focus for future collaboration.
It is important these are shared priorities and developed in partnership with a range of stakeholders, including how these would be taken forward in partnership, as part of a whole system approach. The events will be held across three locations:
- Edinburgh: 12 February 2018 (10-3), CoSLA Building Verity House
- Aberdeen: 21 February 2018 (10-3), Hilton Doubletree
- Glasgow: 27 February 2018 (10-3), Royal Concert Hall
The development of these priorities comes from the 2015 Public Health Review, the 2016 Health & Social Care Delivery Plan, which both highlight the importance of improving the public’s health through a concerted, sustained and comprehensive approach to population health, including a particular focus on prevention and early intervention. They include a clear action to establish shared public health priorities for Scotland as a catalyst to building consensus and momentum, and a drive change and inform local, regional and national action as part of a vision for public health reform.
Please note that although these events are being organised by a ‘public health’ organisation, it is really important that to obtain a broad perspective and range of views from partners in local authorities, the third sector, community planning, health and social care partnerships and Integrated Joint Boards as well as the specialist public health workforce.
