CHEX organisations see funding for community responses to Covid-19

Community-led organisations in the CHEX Network are among those who have been funded to support the local response to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The Scottish Government’s Supporting Communities Fund is aimed at supporting community anchor organisations who are best placed to co-ordinate local efforts.

SCDC and CHEX were pleased to be able to support these funds to reach groups. CHEX, SCDC's sister organisations, supports community-led health organisations to tackle health inequalities across Scotland.

Organisations on the CHEX Network who have received funding so far are:

  • Annexe Communities

  • Castlemilk Together

  • Collydean Community Centre

  • Edinburgh Community Health Forum

  • Edinburgh Community Food

  • Geeza Break

  • Glasgow Community Food Network

  • Healthy Valleys

  • North Glasgow Community Food Initiative

  • Toonspeak

  • Urban Roots

These organisations are already carrying out great work in their communities and have mounted a huge response to the Covid-19 outbreak, providing essential services such as food provision, family support and befriending. You can read more about community responses here.

As this crisis develops, SCDC is calling for community groups to continue to be recognised, acknowledged and supported to ensure their vital work can continue and adapt to the new ‘normal’ that will exist for some time to come. Read more from our Director, Fiona Garven here.
