SCDC's response to Planning Bill consultation

In January 2018, we submitted our response to the Local Government and Communities Committee's call for views on the Planning (Scotland) Bill.

The Scottish Government introduced the Planning Bill to the Scottish Parliament on 4 December 2017. The Bill sets out proposed high-level changes to the overall framework under which planning operates. Read more about the introduction of the Bill here.

SCDC's response focuses on the  alignment of spatial planning processes with community planning processes (specifically the Local Outcomes Improvement Plan (LOIP)), and the introduction of a new right for communities to produce Local Place Plans (LPP).

We also comment on the issue of equal right of appeal and its relationship to the principles of community empowerment.
