Community Action for a Sustainable Scotland

Community Action for a Sustainable Scotland (CASS) is a set of 7 educational resources on sustainable development for community organisations. The CASS resources were adapted by SCDC from material produced as part of the Every Action Counts programme in England, which aimed to embed sustainable development into the work of community groups.

The seven resources are aimed at community projects and groups, and offer advice ranging from how to develop a sustainability plan to simple tips for recycling and saving energy. The resources support both large and small scale community organisations to carry out their activities in ways which protect the environment without impacting on efficiencies and which ensure greater levels of sustainability for the longer term.

They were produced as part of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (UNDESD) programme, which was funded by the Scottish Government and administered through the Community Learning and Development Working Group. The Community Learning and Development Working Group was established in 2010 to ensure that Scottish communities are supported and encouraged to engage in active learning on local sustainable development.
