The Scottish Community Development Centre (SCDC) in partnership with Community Learning and Development service have organised a professional development session for Community Planning partners.

Community Engagement is a way to build and sustain the relationships between public services and community groups.

Who is this training for?

Aimed at managers, project leads and frontline staff who want to strengthen their understanding and practice of community engagement and involvement processes in their own service / organisation and how that connects and contributes to the ambitions and work of Community Planning Aberdeen.

When?

Wednesday 15th March 9.30 -12.30 (in-person, interactive session)

The training will be a chance to:

  • Understand the key values and principles which underpin good community engagement using the National Standards for Community Engagement

  • Explore strategies for community engagement to reach those who don’t normally engage

  • Reflect on practice and how to widen access to participation and involvement

  • Consider opportunities for genuine community engagement in Aberdeen using existing policies, networks and projects to improve services for communities.

  • Learn more about the development of quality engagement and coproduction with communities

  • Discuss how to put communities at the heart of services and decisions.

  • Consider wins and worries - what does it look like when we get it right?

  • Explore the barriers and challenges to effective community engagement.
