Scottish Community Action Research Fund - SCARF
SCARF ran successfully from April 2002 - April 2009. During that time over 130 community groups, from across Scotland, were support to improve their skills and confidence to carry out their own action research.
The fund helped groups to plan, research, collect information, analyse it and present their findings as evidence of the need for positive change in their communities.
Independent evaluations of SCARF highlighted:
- Clear evidence of capacity building for the groups and individuals involved in planning and undertaking their research
- The ability of groups to use their findings to evidence the need for, and achieve change for, the benefit of their community
- The unique approach of SCARF was providing community groups with mentor support
