Development of the National Standards for Community Engagement (2004 - 2005)
Client: Communities Scotland
The Scottish Community Development Centre was commissioned by Communities Scotland to develop a set of community engagement standards and associated guidance to support the way in which public agencies engage with communities. The standards were developed using a bottom-up action research approach. We worked across Scotland with community representatives and agency staff to develop and review the standards and supported 6 pilot implementation schemes. The standards are now in widespread use and we are currently running a national training and support programme.
