Better Community Engagement Curriculum Framework (2005 - 2006)
Client: Learning Connections, Communities Scotland
SCDC was commissioned by Learning Connections to undertake a review of the 1998 Guidelines for Post Qualifying Community Practice and Development published by CeVe (Community Education Validation and Endorsement) committee of the Scottish Community Education Council. Community practice was seen as a broad area of competence in relating communities that was required by a wide range of professions. The review was conducted through focus groups and broader participatory events. It concluded that the core aspect of community practice was community engagement that was now a feature of most public policy practice and guided by the National Standards for Community Engagement. The revision of the competences was therefore developed as a framework for a learning curriculum for community engagement and was published by the Scottish Executive in January 2007 under the title: Better Community Engagement - A framework for learning.
