Community Engagement
The active participation of communities and service-users in decisionmaking processes and the design and delivery of public services is an increasingly central theme of public policy and service delivery.
We offer introductory and more in-depth training on the principles, standards, processes and methods that underpin good practice in community engagement. Typical courses are:
National Standards for Community Engagement
½ day or 1 day course: training covers the principles and practice of community engagement and applying the Standards
Training around the standards can be adapted according to local need but will usually address:
- Why we engage with communities
- How to engage with communities
- How good is our community engagement?
- A partnership approach
- How to use the ten National Standards as a framework and tool for good practice
VOiCE (Visioning Outcomes in Community Engagement)
½ day or 1 day course: training covers the principles underpinning VOiCE, the use of the VOiCE database and its application in practical contexts. It focuses on an outcomefocused approach to community engagement and can be combined with sessions on the principles of community engagement/National Standards.
VOiCE will support you to:

participation - conduct it effectively
