Example training courses
'Introduction to Community Development'
“Introducing Community Development” guides participants towards the principles and practice of community development. This training would be beneficial for representatives from statutory, voluntary or community agencies who need to understand what community development is and how it is practiced. The training will assist participants to:
- Understand the values and purposes of community development
- Understand ways in which community development works to empower communities, promote partnership and achieve positive change in the quality of community life
- Understand the policy context in which community development operates
'Achieving Better Community Development' (ABCD)
ABCD is a programme of training and supporting materials, developed by the Scottish Community Development Centre. It provides a framework for understanding community development, and a model for planning and evaluating community development activity. Training can be offered in distilled format as a one day course or as a series of modules.
