Empowerment Act: Draft Guidance for Participation Requests published

The Scottish Government has published the draft guidance for the Participation Request part of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act.

Regulations and guidance are needed to fill in the detail of how the participation request mechanism as set out in Part 3 of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 will work in practice. A consultation was undertaken in 2016 on draft regulations and guidance.

Scottish Government have been developing the revised regulations and working with a stakeholder group to write the guidance for public service authorities and community participation bodies.

Government expect the regulations to be laid in early 2017 and for the provisions to come into force following the parliamentary process on or around the 1 April 2017.

You can read the current draft Guidance for community participation bodies and public service authorities. It is not expected that the guidance will change significantly from this point but the Scottish Government welcome your comments and questions. You can email them at participationrequestguidance@gov.scot.
