The Scottish Government's Equality Unit are sponsoring 30 day places for ethnic minority delegates who are unwaged or low-income volunteers or community activists, and who might otherwise not be able to participate, to attend this major international community development conference.

Details of how to secure a sponsored place:

If you are from one of Scotland's ethnic minority communities and would not otherwise be in a position to meet the costs of your participation in the ‘Community is the answer' international conference in Glasgow, you are invited to apply for a fully sponsored day delegate place. To apply please provide a brief statement covering the following:

  • Your current role (especially, for example, as an unwaged or low-income volunteer)
  • The name of any organisation that you are attached to and/or the minority community you are representing
  • The reason that you are requesting a sponsored place (including what benefit you hope to get for yourself and your community)
  • The day(s) on which you would like to attend (9 June: Health; 10 June: Wealth; 11 June: Power; also see http://www.communityistheanswer.org/outline-programme)
Priority will be given to allowing as many people as possible to benefit for one day each. But if any places remain, applications for a second day may be considered - if interested please also indicate a second choice of day.

Please return your statement to gill.musk@iacdglobal.org. Applicants will let you know as soon as possible whether you have been allocated a place or not and what to do next. Sponsored places will be allocated until all available have been filled.

Please note that conference registration closes on 22 May.
