David Allan
David has a background in community learning and development and spent 10 years in Community Development with Strathclyde Regional Social Work Department in Lanarkshire and Glasgow. After leaving the Region he was involved in establishing and developing Community Health Projects firstly in Possilpark in Glasgow and latterly in Inverclyde over a period of 7 years, focusing particularly in developing community development approaches to tackling health inequalities at a local level. During this time he became a trainer with the Health Issues in the Community initiative and now through his role as Training Development Manager with CHEX has responsibility for taking this initiative forward across Scotland. His other responsibilities within CHEX are around meeting the training needs of Community Health Initiatives and community health practitioners, producing materials and providing opportunities for people to develop their learning and practice in the area of community development and health. In relation to this area he took the lead in writing and developing the local training handbook "Getting our Act Together ... in Community Development & Health", CDF PUblications, 2005.
